The third forum session in the Community Forums Programme in Debar took place at the elementary school Bratstvo-Edinstvo on Thursday July 4, with the participation of approximately 100 citizens of Debar.
Eight project proposal concepts representing the most pressing needs of the education in Debar were presented at the session, which was also attended by the head of the national democratic governance programme of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Ibrahim Mehmeti, eight project proposals. Six of the concepts concerned the field of infrastructure and equipment, while two proposals were related to the education system.
Workgroup 1 presented the concept for a project proposal to address the issue of heating in the elementary school Sait Najdeni, while group 2 provided explanation and argumentation about the need to address the issue of obtaining equipment for elementary school libraries and teaching aids.
Workgroup 3 explained in detail its proposal for construction of a sports hall in Debar, of the combined type, to be used by both the pupils as well as by the citizens and the sports clubs. It was emphasized that the lack of a standardized sports hall prevents the development of sports clubs and sports life in general.
Workgroup 4 justified the decision to open up a center for foreign languages and modern dance. The center would have a multiethnic dimension to it, which is very important in these regions.
Workgroup 5 presented the decision to establish a fully equipped information science lab in the elementary school Bratstvo-Edinstvo. It underlined the need for such a lab, because there isn’t any at the moment.
Workgroup 6 explained the project proposal on improving toilets in elementary schools, whereas workgroup 7 presented the project idea on how to best arrange the courtyard of the kindergarten Breshija in Debar.
The final workgroup, workgroup 8, made a detailed presentation of the project ideas for the construction of a new building of the highschool Zdravo Cockovski in Debar. The facility built in 1967 is not solid and provides no conditions for classes to take place in it, emphasized the presenters.
The presentations were strongly supported by all present, and there were also additional suggestions and questions in the interest of better implementation of the proposed projects.
This session emphasized the need for a meeting with representatives of emigrants and temporary emigrant workers, which would happen soon in Debar. The next session will take place on September 12.
