A presentation of five project proposals was given by workgroup representatives at the Third Forum Session in the municipality of Karbinci, which took place on July 13 at the premises of the Strasho Pindzur elementary school, in the presence of 41 residents.
The project proposals were identified by the citizens of this municipality during the several months long forum process which has been taking place as part of the Community Forums Programme.
They include: Urban Design, Sports Fields, Community Water Supply, Community Sanitation, and Children’s Playgrounds.
The workgroup presenting the Urban Planning project proposal pointed out that the municipality of Karbinci lacks a sufficient number of well-designed parks, green areas and walking tracks, the centers of the settlements are not well-lit, and there is also a lack of a place for cultural and entertainment events.
The presentation of the project proposals concerning sports fields drew attention to the fact that such fields are present in some local communities, but are in a bad condition, while in other local communities there are none. As a result, a large part of the young population is unable to make rational use of its spare time, stated the presenters.
As regards the concept for renovation of the sports field in v. Karbinci, the citizens of Karbinci decided that it would not be developed further into a project proposal. Also, they didn’t support the Community Water Supply concept.
Community sanitation, primarily due to the small number of settlements (five) with organized sewage of household waste water (not in the village of Radanje), involves a project proposal to improve water supply. The presentation stated that the current surface drainage of waste water represents a serious pollution threat to agricultural areas and can lead to the spread of contagious diseases.
The presentation also included the concept of Children’s Playgrounds, stating that the current condition of children’s playgrounds in the municiplaity is very bad, and they are not accessible to and safe for children.
All of the presentations, backed up with slides, argumentation, and Q&A sessions for the specific project proposals, included an identification of the problem, objective, beneficiaries, proposed solution/s, project leaders or partners, as well as the total amound of funds, i.e. budget. In the further forum sessions these elements will be changed or refined, according to process developments.
