  “Urban Structure”, “Children’s Playgrouds”, and “Small Sports Courts”, a project to be carried out with an additional municipal budget, are the projects chosen by the citizens of Karbinci at the sixth and last forum session that took place last Sunday (14th December) in the school Strasho Pindzur.

  The voting at the working tables for the projects, determined by the citizens as priorities in their municipality at the past forum sessions, was accompanied by an interesting discussion, as a result of which two projects -  “Children’s Playgrouds”, with a total budget of 561,289 MKD, and “Small Sports Courts”, with a budget of 2,611,600 MKD, received the same number of votes and shared the second place.
    After the revote, the citizens chose the “Children’s Playgrouds” project as second, while for the construction of small sports courts will be carried out with additional 286.000 MKD from the municipal budget, said the municipality’s Mayor, Boris Gavrilov.
    The total project fund of the Community Forums Programme in Karbinci is 4 million MKD, in part contribution of the municipality, in part donation from the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), and 10% are contribution of the project holder. The leading project “Urban Structure” has a total budget of 2,481,859 MKD.
    “The citizens of Karbinci now know much more when it comes to working on projects, mostly as a result of this Programme”, said the Mayor Gavrilov.
    According to him, the municipality is also ready to finance the fourth priority project for the citizens: “Rehabilitation of the Communities”.
    The implementation of the chosen projects will begin in March 2009, and a follow up session will take place in August 2009, so that the citizens can see the results of the work done.
    “The objective of Programme is to increase citizen participation in local self-government. Citizens should have direct insight in the municipality’s work, which will greatly facilitate resolving individual and group problems”, said the SDC representative Ibrahim Mehmeti.
    The right to vote was given to regular participants who have attended at least four forum sessions, and each working table has the same voting right as the next one, following the principle: one table – one vote.
    The number of financed projects depends on the total value of projects chosen, as long as there are means available in the project fund.
    The Community Forums Programme in the Municipality of Karbici is implemented by the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCIC).
