| Communal Infrastructure – Priority for the Citizens of Novo Selo |

Communal infrastructure and the environment is the topic to be worked on by the citizens of the Municipality of Novo Selo during the next forum sessions in order to improve their everyday lives and implement specific projects.
This was the conclusion of the first forum session that took place on the 26th November in the reastaurant Michelle in the Municipality of Novo Selo, with 164 citizens, municipality representatives, the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), and the Programme’s implementing agency attending.
“It is of great importance to involve the citizens in the decision-making and solutions regarding the problems the face in their everyday life, said the Mayor of Novo Selo, Nikola Andonov, at the beginning of the session. The citizens of the Municipality of Novo Selo , with a majority of 147 votes, chose this topic from the two proposed by the municipality, thus determining it as a priority to be discussed regarding their everyday problems. The participants, depending on their interests, gathered around several working tables: municipal administration, agriculture, environment, rural development, crafts, youth, tourism, and pensioners. The projects, to be determined and proposed by the citizens, will be financed from a budget of 8 million MKD, 2 of which are contribution of the municipality, while 6 million are a donation of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC). The Municipality of Novo Selo is one of the eight municipalities that were chosen for second cycle of the second phase of the Community Forums Programme, which is planned to involve around 25 municipalities in the course of the next three years. The implementing agency of the Programme in this municipality is the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM). |
