Around 90 citizens of the Municipality of Berovo participated in the second forum session of the Community Forums Programme that took place on the 16th of December in the school Dedo Iljo Maleshevski in Berovo.
The citizens debated with great enthusiasm and dedication and after they restructured the working tables, they identified their everyday problems according to the interests of the table they represent.
“I like the way problems are solved in our community and I like these forums because I hope something will be done regarding the problems of the Roma neighbourhood”, said Azira Destanova, participant in the Forum. The citizens present determined three sub-topics or problems inside the main topic – Infrastructure – chosen at the first forum session. These are: infrastructural problems, wastewater treatment, and public areas. The structured tables – communal infrastructure, road infrastructure, education, youth, sport, culture, municipal administration, and tourism – did constructive work to identify two or, at the most, three problems at each table. ![]() This is, in fact, one of the goals of the forum process, to develop citizen participation, at first in defining the problems, end then in providing ideas for solution. Not to be forgotten is the educational component, as the citizens can acquire new knowledge and skills how to develop projects. “There are many problems where I come from and I will tell my fellow citizens that through this ProgrammeI pointed out the problems of our village and that I expect them to be solved, with our engagement, through the Forum. It is great that the citizens and the municipality can cooperate in such a way”, says Burovska Zora from the village Rusinovo. The total Programme budget for the Municipality of Berovo is eight million denars, two of which are provided by the municipality, while six are a donation of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC). The next, third forum session is scheduled for the 28th January 2009. |
