The Forum selected the infrastructural projects for Kocani

At the seventh, final session within the frames of the Community Forums Programme, the citizens of Kocani selected three projects aimed at Infrastructural works in the town and the surrounding settlements.  The highest number of points went to the project “Fences around the schoolyard – better safety and security of pupils in the schools Ss Kiril and Metodij, Ljupco Santov, and Pavlina Veljanova”, and the “City sports hall” with a budget of MKd 2,350,497. The project holder is the elementary school Ss Kiril and Metodij.  The project “Reconstruction of the sports hall”, with a budget of MKD 2,350,497 received 78 points and was approved for implementation. The project holder is the civic association Organisation for Consumer Rights Protection.  The Forum decided to dedicate the remaining MKD 1,116,027 to fund the first phase of the project “Lack of parks and recreational greenery on the outskirts of the town”, which includes building a park in the settlement Kalimanova Glava in Kocani.  “Through this Programme, Kocani got developed projects which the Municipality will make an effort to implement through other potential funds and investors,” said the representative of the Municipality Kocani, Petar Apostolov.  “To our satisfaction, we witnessed a very successful forum session in the municipality Kocani where the citizens were deciding on the ten projects and selected three projects that they considered the strongest in terms of addressing infrastructural problems,” said Miodrag Kolic, representative of the Forum Coordination Unit.  He also added that this enables citizens to become actively involved in resolving local community problems.  The principal of Ss Kiril and Metodij elementary school, Golubinka Gjorgieva, said that the working group expected the Forum to give the project a green light.  “We were expecting that because we believe that children’s safety should come first. The project should be completed by November and the school yard and the kindergarten should become better places for living and walking around,” said Gjorgieva.  Dissatisfaction with the lack of approval did not remain unvoiced, too.  “I think that the small number of points for our project was not justified, and we are particularly dissatisfied with the Municipal administration’s working table. The administration should have realized that this town really needs a space like the Dabot, and yet they gave it the least points, only two points,” reacted Vanco Arsov from the working table on paving of the road from Beli to the picnic spot Dabot.  The following period will be dedicated to the implementation of the projects. After their completion, the eighth session will take place, where the Forum will report to the citizens on the work done.
