First budget Forum in Berovo |

The first forum session in the municipality of Berovo, where the budget forum as part of the Community Forums programme is implemented for the first time, took place on 7 October at the restaurant Loven dom, in the presence of 82 citizens from the municipality.
Presentation of the budget forum process, the budgeting process, structure of the budget of the municipality, structure of the labour force as well as an overview of the strategic development plan and the priorities for 2010; these were some of the topics covered at the session.
Slavica Furnadziska, one of the participants at the Forum said – “I recognize the Forum as a good opportunity for the citizens to meet and open discussions”.
She also added that with regards to the increased revenues of the municipality this is the best possible way to influence to the stimulation of the economic development.
The participants were divided in accordance to the several working tables – Municipal administration, Social services and sports, Environment, Economic development and tourism, Basic infrastructure and Education and culture.
According to the mayor Dragi Nadziski, the Forum represents stimulation of the development spirit of the citizens and touching on many issues for the municipality of Berovo.
“I see this form of congregation as a good opportunity to analyse the problems of the municipality together”, said the mayor Nadziski.
The participants at the Forum proposed 18 priorities as part of the development priorities of municipality Berovo for 2010. Some of them are final development and landscaping of the wharf of the river Bregalnica, reconstruction of the sports hall Partizan, construction of a multifunctional hall at the location of the movie theatre, development of the city square and the central town area and extension and development of the existing pedestrian walkways.
At this stage, the total budget of the Programme for the municipality of Berovo amounts to eight million denars. The municipality is participating with two millions while the rest six millions are donated by the Swiss Agency for Development and cooperation (SDC).
In Berovo, the Programme is implemented by the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCIC) in cooperation with the municipality.
