Identification and defining of issues within the frame of the Waste Collection topic was the focus of the second forum session which took place at the Municipal Hall in the village Novaci, in the presence of 104 residents from the two municipalities.
The Forum participants identified four main issues - Lack of infrastructure for waste collection; Inoperation of landfills and emergence of new landfills; Problems with manure and trash in the settlements; and the Low level of environmental awareness of citizens.
After identification of the issues, four working groups were formed, comprised of residents of the municipalities Novaci and Mogila, with the objective to research these issues and prepare a presentation of the research results.
The participants were welcomed by the Mayor of the Municipality Novaci, Lazar Kotevski, who appealed to the participants to come regularly to the forum sessions and underlined that the funds could be used to activate the waste collection companies in the two municipalities.
A representative of the local self-government in Mogila and Novaci presented the current and planned activities of the municipalities related to waste collection, and called on citizens to identify issues by means of a consensus. Also, he pointed out the intermunicipal cooperation in the fields of construction and urban planning.
The session also presented the Programme's blog with updated information on the course of the forum sessions, dates of future sessions, questions asked by citizens, and other information.
The total budget for the Programme in these municipalities amounts to MKD 8 million, of which MKD 6 million are a donation by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and MKD 1 million denars each is provided by the municipalities Novaci and Mogila.
