The forum at the municipality Aerodrom decide to replace the windows at the schools

After seven sessions that were organized in as much months, following the preparation and presentation of five projects and independent voting, the citizens of the municipality Aerodrom that participated in the Community forums programme decided to invest over 100.000 EUR in replacing the windows at the primary schools “Blaze Koneski", "Braka Miladinovci" and "Goce Delcev" as well as the kindergarten "Srnicka - Izvorce".    This project with a total value assessed to be 109.150 EUR will be financed by the Programme budget. The Swiss agency for cooperation and Development (SDC) will donate approximately 66.000 EUR while the rest of the amount will be provided by the municipality.   The citizens of the municipality Aerodrom prepared four additional projects, repair of the floors at the three schools and one kindergarten, arranging the schoolyards, procurement of equipment for the classrooms and improving the conditions in which the classes are held, as well as construction of a sports ground at the regional primary school “Goce Delcev” in Dolno Lisice.   Eventually it was the project for replacing the school windows with a total of 36 points, ahead of the projects for procurement of equipment with 31 points, floors with 28, sports grounds with 24 and the school yards with 16 points. The winning project foresees the disassembly of the existing windows in the selected schools and one kindergarten, procurement of new PVC windows.   The objectives of the project are improvement of the heat and sound insulation as well as energy saving. 1.792 students in the schools and 257 children in the kindergarten, the staff and other employees will be the direct beneficiaries of the project, while the parents and the entire community will be the indirect beneficiaries because these facilities will decrease their heating costs.   The Programme sessions that took place at the hall of the primary school “Gjorgjija Pulevski” on 28 October 2009 were attended by approximately 200 citizens. Aerodrom was one of the 12 municipalities beneficiaries of the Programme. The costs were covered by SDC and the municipality Aerodrom, while the Programme was implemented by the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCMS) and the municipal administration, via a work group that was comprised of representatives from NGOs, the business sector and the media.   Each citizen of the municipality over the age of 16 had the right to participate. The Forum was an opportunity for the citizens to govern their municipality in part, and to decide on the project that was to be implemented. The “education” topic was selected at the first forum session at the municipality Aerodrom, thus all the subsequent projects that were prepared focused on the conditions in the schools and kindergartens.
